The latest episode of SmackDown saw two key figures returning to WWE programming. Paul Heyman came back to introduce the fifth member of the OG Bloodline WarGames team, CM Punk. The latter marched down to the ring and initiated a brawl with Solo Sikoa‘s faction. Following the enthralling ending to SmackDown, Punk seemingly disclosed why he decided to join Roman Reigns and the OG Bloodline at Survivor Series.
The Second City Saint sent a message on his Instagram story, indicating that he just wanted a piece of the action. For the first time since his brutal Hell in a Cell encounter at Bad Blood, Punk will compete inside the squared circle (two, to be precise). Moreover, this marks his first appearance inside the WarGames structure.
Last week on SmackDown, Reigns made the call to Heyman only to find out that his number was out of service. Well, it seems that The Wiseman was watching the show as he recruited the OG Bloodline’s fifth member in a week’s time.
The faction struggled and failed to find someone to team up with them. Most notably, they approached Reigns’ former Shield teammate Seth Rollins, who vehemently snapped at the idea of helping The OTC. Nonetheless, the faction will be pleased that they’ve found a valuable teammate in the form of Punk.
Earlier this year, the former WWE Champion did have a segment with Heyman and Sikoa’s Bloodline. As such, it should come as little surprise that Punk agreed to his former manager’s request. Although Roman Reigns does not get along with Punk, they’ll have to set aside their differences next week at Survivor Series.
How will Seth Rollins react to CM Punk joining forces with Roman Reigns?
There were multiple reasons for Seth Rollins to side with the OG Bloodline for WarGames. Whether it was helping Sami Zayn and Jey Uso or facing his rival, Bronson Reed, inside the structure, Rollins could’ve joined the team. However, Rollins adamantly stood by his stance. The Visionary made it clear: he did not want to bring Roman Reigns back into power.
If there is one person that Rollins despises the most on the WWE roster, it is CM Punk. The rivalry between the two has been well-documented on television. As such, seeing Punk team up with Reigns might not sit well with the former Universal Champion.
In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Rollins discuss what transpired on SmackDown during next week’s Raw. More importantly, this would add fuel to their rumored match at next year’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what transpires in the lead-up to the Showcase of the Immortals.
