CM Punk is known for his unfiltered and bold approach to promos. He addresses topics that feel almost taboo to discuss in programming. The 46-year-old did something highly similar on the latest episode of Raw, mentioning controversial personality Hulk Hogan while cutting a highly impassionate promo about his participation in the upcoming Royal Rumble match.
During the episode, Punk gave an interview with Jackie Redmond from the arena’s stands. She mentioned that the Royal Rumble was one of the ways to get to the main event of WrestleMania. This is clearly something that the Best in the World was desperate for. However, the field this year seemed more stacked than ever. Stars like Roman Reigns, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre have all declared themselves for this match.
Punk said that he was a history-maker throughout his career. He was going to make history again on February 1st, no matter who he was up against. Even if he had to go up against Hulk Hogan, the Second City Saint would throw “his dusty a**” over the top rope to put a permanent end to Hulkamania. This remark also promoted a huge positive response from the live crowd.

Hogan was last seen in WWE on the inaugural episode of Raw on Netflix. The segment was disastrous for all parties involved. The Hulkster got booed heavily by the audience before he promoted his beer, cut a promo, and left. Although the Stamford-based promotion still has contractual obligations to promote Real American Beer, fans likely won’t be seeing the 71-year-old on programming any time soon.

Hulk Hogan was not the only one targeted during CM Punk’s fiery promo on Raw. In fact, the Voice of the Voiceless had a remark prepared for whoever Jackie Redmond mentioned as a credible contender to win the Rumble. He said that the lights would be brightest and the pressure would be on at the Lucas Oil Stadium, and that would be when he would come alive. Nobody could beat him at his best.
CM Punk began by targeting his arch nemesis, John Cena. He waved his hand in front of his face and said that he couldn’t see the Cenation leader tossing him over the top rope. Furthermore, he had already beaten superstars like Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins over the past few months. He also told Redmond not to mention guys like Sami Zayn, as they simply were not on the same level as him.
Did you say John Cena? I can’t ‘see’ John Cena throwing me over the top rope on February 1st. Did you say Roman Reigns? Roman Reigns needed my help to settle family business at WarGames. In the Royal Rumble, there are no friends and its every man for himself.

The Straight Edge Superstar said that Roman Reigns was the one who needed Punk’s help to settle his family business at WarGames. However, it is every man for himself at the Rumble. The 46-year-old asserted that his hand would be raised in Indianapolis on Feb 1st. He was going to settle scores, cash in debts, and even call in favors if he needed to. This was likely a reference to the favor owed to him by Paul Heyman.
