Cody Rhodes had a rough night at Bad Blood. After being battered and bruised by The Bloodline, he managed to score a victory at the PLE, all thanks to Roman Reigns. However, his night did not end there; he got brutally ambushed in the parking lot by an old friend in an unexpected turn of events.
The name in question is Kevin Owens, who made a shocking move by taking out Cody Rhodes following Bad Blood. In a clip surfacing on the internet, The Prizefighter had a confrontation with the Undisputed Champion in the parking lot. However, an undisclosed argument led to Owens dismantling Rhodes with the aim of destruction.
The possible reason behind this attack is being speculated to be Rhodes’ alliance with Roman Reigns. In the past, The OTC’s Bloodline had made Owens’ life a misery. Therefore, when The American Nightmare teamed up with Reigns for Bad Blood, the former Universal Champion’s animosity towards him was visible.

Considering that, Owens might have unleashed an attack on the 39-year-old out of frustration. The foreshadowing of this betrayal was witnessed on SmackDown last week. Regardless, only time will tell how Rhodes reacts to his longtime friend stabbing him in the back.
What this attack on Cody Rhodes could mean for the future
It was inevitable that Kevin Owens was going to turn heel on Cody Rhodes. However, not many expected it would transpire in such a way behind the scenes. Therefore, this opens up a lot of different possibilities for the future of The American Nightmare from here on.
It is possible that WWE might have planted seeds for a future showdown of the former friends. In fact, they might be involved in a rugged feud over the course of the next few months. This might lead to a potential match between the two, possibly at Survivor Series.
In addition to that, Randy Orton could play a key role in their upcoming feud. That being said, it is going to be interesting to see how things would transpire on SmackDown from here on.
