When Roman Reigns returned at SummerSlam, there was skepticism among fans about having both Cody Rhodes and him on the same brand. With Reigns posing as a babyface as well, the two biggest stars of WWE would be sharing the spotlight on SmackDown. Despite the concerns, Rhodes remains firm about his position.
During the fan signing at the Fanatics Fest, The American Nightmare opened up about his adversary’s return. Rhodes highlighted the popularity of WWE. Moreover, he cited The Bloodline storyline as a major reason behind it. The Undisputed WWE Champion felt that the uncertainty surrounding him and Reigns was “crazy.” According to Rhodes, there is always space for several top stars on the roster.
Although he’s more than open to sharing the spotlight with Reigns, the former AEW wrestler reminded everyone that he currently holds the Undisputed title. A couple of weeks ago, The Tribal Chief made his return in the main event of SummerSlam. Reigns immediately set his sights on his former right-hand man, Solo Sikoa. The latter had taken over the reins in The Bloodline, while the Head of the Table remained absent from television.
WWE and I don't mean this in a braggadocious way, is currently the most popular it's ever been. A considerable amount of that has to do with the Bloodline and Roman Reigns. There are people that think that forces cannot co-exist on the show. That's crazy.Cody Rhodes during Fanatics Fest live signing
The record-breaking champion attacked Sikoa and helped Rhodes retain the Undisputed Championship. Following the match, Roman Reigns sent a message to the champion and warned that he would be coming after the title. While the OTC is handling family business at the moment, the Georgia native is preparing for battle against his friend, Kevin Owens.
Did Cody Rhodes make a mistake by handing Kevin Owens a title shot?
On the SmackDown episode after SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes insisted on handing a title shot to Kevin Owens. Despite the latter repeatedly denying the opportunity, Nick Aldis ended up making the match official for Bash in Berlin. Having said that, many fans believe that Rhodes might’ve made a huge mistake.
As admitted by the man himself, Owens hasn’t had the best track record this year. With a world championship shot basically gifted to him, KO would do anything to claim another title. Even if it means turning and betraying The American Nightmare, The Prizefighter could tap into his darker side again.
This was evident when Owens momentarily held the Undisputed Championship in his hands on the latest edition of SmackDown. Although he gave the belt back to Rhodes, there was a subtle tease of the former Universal Champion contemplating an attack on his friend. Nonetheless, only time will tell how things play out in the coming weeks.
