After finally dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, Cody Rhodes has already started to eye his future opponents. Among the plethora of opponents, The American Nightmare noted that he and Gunther are destined to face each other.
While speaking on Spaces on X, Cody Rhodes was asked about potential opponents who could challenge him for the coveted title. He stated that the match between him and The Ring General was written in destiny. After losing the Intercontinental title to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL, Gunther will look forward to finding a new target.
Although they haven’t faced each other in one-on-one action yet, they have crossed paths in the Royal Rumble match. During the 2023 event, Gunther entered first and broke the record for the most time spent in a single Royal Rumble match. However, Rhodes eliminated him to win the event while being the last entrant.
So I’ll go ahead and say that Gunther is just out in the ether, and I do think that he and I are probably destined to clash at some point.Cody Rhodes via Spaces
Staying in the present, the 38-year-old star will defend his title against AJ Styles at Backlash in France. Meanwhile, Gunther has already set his new goal, announcing that he will be participating in the King of the Ring tournament. As of now, they are both competing on different brands, but there is no denying that they will be fighting on a bigger stage soon.
Cody Rhodes said he is looking forward to The Rock’s return
The Rock couldn’t prevent Cody Rhodes from becoming the Undisputed Champion at WrestleMania XL. However, he warned The American Nightmare that their story wasn’t quite over yet. Surprisingly, the 38-year-old star was eagerly anticipating their next meeting.
While speaking on Spaces, Rhodes stated that, unlike Reigns, he didn’t get any closure in his story with The Great One. He expressed his desire to meet him once more in the squared circle. The Final Boss also confirmed his participation at WrestleMania 41 and showed interest in having a singles match with the champion.
I don't want to just leave it out there but I didn't get any closure on the situation with The Rock particularly with him giving me something back that was something he should've kept and I feel that closure in wrestling that's one of the beautiful things about sports entertainment wrestling, WWE. If you think that closure's going to happen stay tuned, it might. But it might happen in a very different way so I look forward to his return.Cody Rhodes via Spaces
Due to his demanding commitments in Hollywood, The Brahma Bull will be taking a hiatus from wrestling for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see when he returns to the squared circle again.
