It looks like Cody Rhodes is more than ready for his first PLE title defense at Backlash. Having said that, he shared a sneak peek of the gear he was going to wear at the upcoming PLE on social media. There is no denying that his ring attire is one of the most defining aspects of his character.

The American Nightmare took to X and shared a small video clip of his ring attire, which was designed by Sandra Gray. He praised her for doing an excellent job designing his gear. Cody Rhodes also tagged the LDLC Arena, where he will be performing at Backlash in France.

After finally finishing his story against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, Rhodes was waiting for his first challenger. Fellow Georgian wrestler AJ Styles grabbed the opportunity by defeating his longtime rival, LA Knight. On the latest episode of SmackDown, both stars met to sign the contract for their upcoming match.

Rhodes stated that no matter how ‘phenomenal’ Styles was, this was a must-win match for him. After The American Nightmare defeated Carmelo Hayes, the 46-year-old star approached him and extended his hand, signaling his intent to resolve their differences in the ring. It will be interesting to see who wins, as both stars are going to compete against each other for the first time at Backlash.

Ryback believes Cody Rhodes will soon turn heel

There is no doubt in anybody’s mind that Cody Rhodes is the face of the new era. Many even consider him the true “People’s Champion” due to everything he does for his fans. However, former WWE superstar Ryback feels that The American Nightmare could soon turn heel.

While speaking on Ryback TV, the former Intercontinental Champion stated that he could see Rhodes tapping into his dark side because of the power that comes with holding the title. Ryback said that the Undisputed WWE Champion might have already planned a heel turn in the longer picture. The Big Guy’s concept of a ‘heel Cody Rhodes’ revolved around him gradually transforming into an arrogant champion.

We've talked about that and the way to do this then is to keep the title on him and let that story start unfolding within the story of him being the champion (…) That, to me, where essentially the championship goes to his head, the fame, the money, the success, he now used everybody to get what he wanted.

If Rhodes decides to become a heel again, it wouldn’t be his first time assuming that role. During his first run with the company, he was a bad guy for the majority of it. The former AEW star partnered with Randy Orton in Legacy, becoming ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes, and then finally adopting the Stardust persona. Despite being one of the most lovable superstars, a potential heel turn will be interesting, to say the least.
