The new Undisputed Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, experienced a strange thing on the way to his entrance on this week’s SmackDown. Like any WWE Superstar, his entrance is much appreciated by fans. As such, the incident brought out a hilarious reaction from him. 

After the latest episode of SmackDown ended, the new champ Cody Rhodes defended his title against Dominik Mysterio. As he climbed the turnbuckle to do his signature pose during his entrance, he got scared because of the very loud effect of Pyro. His reaction afterward was funny, to say the least, as he signaled ‘calm down’ with his hands.

Many fans felt that he was still getting used to the champion treatment, as he held the world title for the first time. He defeated Roman Reigns in a Bloodline Rules match, where many legends like John Cena and The Undertaker helped him take them down.

SmackDown GM, Nick Aldis announced two sets of Triple Threat matches to determine the no.1 contender for the Universal Title. LA Knight and AJ Styles both won their respective matches and will fight each other in a WrestleMania rematch next week. It will be interesting to see who will be the very first superstar to challenge Cody Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes reveals that his family member successfully finished chemotherapy after SmackDown

After he successfully retained the title by defeating Dirty Dom, he addressed the WWE Universe that came to enjoy the show. He took the microphone, expressed his love and gratitude towards fans, and also shared some positive news regarding his personal life.

The American Nightmare talked about how much Detroit as a city means to him as he made his debut there. He then shifted focus to his wife Brandi Rhodes’ family and especially mentioned Otis, who had successfully finished chemotherapy. 

Detroit is kinda like a hometown for me. I debuted here back in 2007 at the Hall of Fame at the Fox Theater and then I married the most beautiful woman on earth. Speaking of Brandi, these are Brandi’s parents sitting in the front row. I’m very happy excited that they’re here the whole family, but in particular, I have to shout out Otis, who’s got the hat on. Otis just finished chemo.

Rhodes showed the WWE Universe that he is the face of WWE by defending his title on the blue brand. Only time will tell how long the American Nightmare’s title lasts, as many superstars are eyeing the world title.
