After talking down on each other for the good part of 2024, The Rock and Cody Rhodes seemingly mended fences on the Netflix premiere of Raw. On a night when the fans were expecting their story to pick up en route to WrestleMania, both men appeared to bury the hatchet. Does that mean they’re good once and for all?

Cody Rhodes was asked about his current relationship with The Rock during an interview with Theonemona. Offering his two cents, the Undisputed WWE Champion said he looks at it in two different ways. First, a part of Rhodes tends to believe that Rock, being a TKO Board member, views Cody in that light where he’s proud of The American Nightmare’s success.

But that’s an off-camera perspective. That said, there’s some lingering tension as well. Cody couldn’t get over the fact that The Final Boss would easily let go of what transpired at WrestleMania 40. Hence, that cynicism brings nothing but a doubt, which Rhodes still has on Rock, thinking maybe the latter absolutely loathes him.

I don’t know where we stand again. The dude could run up on me right now and pop me in the ear and we’d be right back in it……

Cody Rhodes on his current status with The Rock

As it stands, the former AEW EVP is partially torn on where he’s at in life with Dwayne Johnson. Rhodes joked that the Moana actor could run through him anytime he wants, and they’d be back in the fold where they left off. A few months ago, Rhodes vs. Rock was heavily discussed within WWE as one of the main events of WrestleMania 41.

But a lot has changed since then. The Great One is believed to have a lot on his plate, which is obvious considering his stake in Hollywood. Rock’s starrer, Moana 2, broke new ground at the box office with the movie recently becoming a billion-grosser.

How has The Rock derailed Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania plans?

As mentioned above, Cody Rhodes was penciled in as The Rock‘s opponent at WrestleMania 41 at one point. Reports even suggest that The Brahma Bull allegedly wanted an iteration of a champion vs. champion match pitting them against each other.

The idea was for Cody to head into Mania as the Undisputed WWE Champion, taking on Rock with the latter also putting his People’s Championship on the line. But since the Jumanji actor’s WrestleMania status got dubious, WWE pulled back on everything.

Since November, John Cena has been reportedly entrusted to replace Rocky in his role against Cody at The Show of Shows. For the unversed, The Franchise Player is the odds-on favorite to win the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match. If Cena fails, he’ll have one last shot at the Elimination Chamber to turn things around.
