Ahead of this weekend’s Wrestlepalooza PLE, Cody Rhodes stopped by ESPN Unsportsmanlike. Apart from bracing himself up for a daunting clash against Drew McIntyre, he also lent his thoughts on the potential candidates to replace Triple H as the head of creative in WWE. While Rhodes is all for himself giving a shot at it, there are others in the reckoning as well.
It wasn’t that competitive at first, as Rhodes emphasized. But in today’s scheme of things, names like CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and even Bayley are right up there in the conversation to potentially steer the creative ship of WWE if the opportunity presented itself. ‘The American Nightmare’ endorsed Punk by saying he’s quite exceptional in helping the younger generation.
“It’s very clear that CM Punk is really great at helping develop young talent. He probably has a knack for it more than anybody. Seth Rollins is a little bit more rough around the edges, but probably would be an outstanding boss when it comes down to it. I’d love to throw my name in the hat……………

As far as Rollins is concerned, Rhodes called him a bit rough around the edges but termed him a fantastic boss down the line. ‘The Quarterback of WWE’ then declared his candidature as well for the coveted position currently held by Triple H. Rhodes affirmed that he does possess some prior experience in that category. For the unversed, the 40-year-old was an executive vice president at AEW.

That being said, Rhodes eventually stated the industry isn’t easy, and he’s grateful for the fact that WWE has the services of ‘The Game’ for at least the foreseeable future. Paul Levesque has been the driving force behind the main roster creative since the ouster of Vince McMahon from WWE.
‘The Cerebral Assassin’ got promoted to the position of the chief content officer in September 2022. Levesque’s report card has gotten polarizing, especially since the beginning of 2025.
Cody Rhodes underscores the need for a ‘Roman Reigns’ in his career
The culmination of Cody Rhodes‘ story with Roman Reigns will go down as one of the greatest wrestling tales ever told. They were the anchors of WWE’s often-romanticized boom period that many believe began in late 2022 and fizzled out after WrestleMania 40.
Rhodes and Reigns were relentless as rivals, but they have apparently grown in mutual respect. ‘The American Nightmare’ spoke highly of his great nemesis on ESPN’s First Take.

Rhodes applauded Reigns for being the centerpiece of pro wrestling for the years he was grinding on the independent circuit after getting released by WWE in 2016. The former AEW star said that he returned to WWE as a disruptor, boasting his rejuvenated self.
He went on to elaborate that the business they are in is as real as it gets, and the competition that goes into it includes a certain level of respect. Being the WWE Champion, Rhodes is aware of the fact that he needs to stay on the move.
He’s aware of the fact that Reigns could get back in the hunt any given day and pose a different amount of challenge to his legacy, which, in fact, is a work in progress. ‘The Prodigal Son’ didn’t rule out that ‘The OTC’ could be the face of WWE yet again if he wished to do so.
He also brought up their collab in the upcoming Street Fighter movie that they shot together. While Rhodes appears to be done with his part, Reigns still has some dates left on the sets.
Cody Rhodes hails Roman Reigns as holding the center of wrestling for a period of time, says he hope Roman is around for years to come:

‘The QB1’ admitted that someone like Reigns always keeps him on his toes, and he hoped for the ‘OTC’ to be around in WWE for the years to come. These men have teamed up once in the past. It happened at last year’s Bad Blood PLE, where the arch-rivals, almost unwillingly, joined forces to combat the duo of Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. It’d be interesting to see when Rhodes and Reigns will get to share the ring again.
