There has been a lot of speculation about Cody Rhodes‘ next opponent for the WWE Undisputed Championship. With The American Nightmare seemingly being pulled back into The Bloodline saga, it seems inevitable that the next person challenging him for the title would be Solo Sikoa.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa is the planned main event for SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. Many fans claimed that this was quite underwhelming for the Biggest Party of the Summer. However, such a match headlining the second biggest show of the year could perhaps be a sign of Roman Reigns making his return.

WWE has been setting up this feud since Clash at the Castle. After defending his title against AJ Styles in an ‘I Quit’ match, Rhodes was exiting ringside. While he was on the ramp, Sikoa showed up out of nowhere. The two had an intense staredown before Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa came out to jump the champion.

This was followed by Randy Orton and Kevin Owens coming out to save the SmackDown Superstar. WWE has now announced a six-man tag team match between these two teams at Money in the Bank. This match could be part of the build-up for the eventual SummerSlam match between Rhodes and Sikoa.

Sikoa vs. Rhodes taking place on the latest episode of SmackDown was a huge surprise. Fans assumed WWE would be planning this match for a future date at a much bigger show. However, the match ending in disqualification after interference from The Bloodline signals that there is more to come.

WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes talks about his experience of performing in front of international crowds

WWE has been on a spree of international shows since WrestleMania XL. Cody Rhodes has defended his WWE Undisputed Championship on PLE in three different countries since winning the title, namely, France, Scotland, and Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on Behind the Turnbuckle, the former AEW EVP discussed how much he has enjoyed performing at these international shows. They had already had huge success over the past three months and are now soon heading to Berlin and Toronto. He had no idea why these crowds meshed with an American who sported the American flag colors all over his gear.

Because Rhodes did not go to college, he considered these experiences his global education. Further, he expressed his gratitude for such opportunities. The 38-year-old claimed that he would totally understand if the French or Saudi crowds did not want to cheer for him. However, their support had been unfathomable. Lastly, he thanked WWE President Nick Khan for making these shows possible.
