There’s an unsaid rule in pro wrestling that goes like one has to travel with their championships wherever they might be. And being a WWE Superstar; let alone their world champion, Cody Rhodes did not adhere to it lately. While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The American Nightmare revealed how breaking that rule brought shame to him.
Rhodes recently attended his 20th high school reunion. That sounds nice, isn’t it? However, most of the people Cody ran into who wanted a picture with him weren’t willing anymore when they learned he didn’t bring his WWE title along. It felt like a disappointment to Rhodes. Further, the 39-year-old dove into juggling between folk-style amateur wrestling and acting for the International Thespian Society.
The only photo Cody clicked that evening was with his mates, who’d been a part of the ITS drama club. Show host Jimmy Fallon, then held that photo frame up for the audience in case they hadn’t seen it. Moving on, Fallon brought up what’s coming to the NBC on December 14 at 8 p.m. EST—the Saturday Night’s Main Event.
It’d be the first SNME event since 2008, and it’s already up and running. Rhodes talked about his opponent for the show, who’s none other than Kevin Owens. The former AEW EVP alluded to guys like KO getting intimidated by his suit game because they’ve had issues with their manhood.
Before touching on that, Cody teased a few surprises for Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was recently reported that WWE plans on using Hulk Hogan‘s close ally, Jimmy Hart, for that night. Also, the company is leaning towards giving the show a retro outline, using an old-school theme song as well.
Kevin Owens explains why he’s right about Cody Rhodes
This week on SmackDown, Kevin Owens came up with a number of reasons for why his change in demeanor toward Cody Rhodes is justified. The Prizefighter took a stroll down memory lane and recalled how Roman Reigns tried to end his career a few years ago.
He threw the kitchen sink at Reigns and Bloodline in response. Having gone through that vortex of annihilation, Owens made sure Cody Rhodes, whom he considered his friend, didn’t have to bear those hardships. However, seeing Rhodes team up with Reigns at Bad Blood, Owens snapped.

It was something he’d never envisaged. That ensued a callous beatdown of Cody in the parking lot after the PLE. Since then, they’ve been at daggers drawn. In the process, Kevin also took Randy Orton out for good. He’s out of action indefinitely.
