For the past few weeks, WWE has been flashing QR codes on-screen during Raw and SmackDown broadcasts. These codes seemingly point toward the return of Uncle Howdy. The character was part of an ongoing storyline in the company before Bray Wyatt‘s tragic passing. Now, the most recent QR code seems to have given away the mythical character’s first target, Cody Rhodes.

The latest episode of SmackDown, emanating from Jeddah, saw another code flash on the screen. When scanned, it takes one to a page full of enigmatic buttons and clues. Every button displays a message when clicked. The most prominent among these was a button labeled ‘The Prodigal Son.’

Clicking the button displayed a message where the writer of the message talked about their target’s journey home. Further, the writer claimed that they would be waiting for their target on the other side. These hints of referring to the individual as the prodigal son and talking about their journey home strongly suggest that the first target for the supernatural character would be none other than the WWE Undisputed Champion.

With the Twitch livestream and the clues becoming more prominent each week, it appears that the mysterious character, along with his faction, is bound to debut soon. It could happen as soon as tonight’s King and Queen of the Ring PLE. If Rhodes is indeed Uncle Howdy‘s first target, he will likely appear during or after his match against Logan Paul

Former WWE head writer Brian Gewirtz claims Cody Rhodes winning Royal Rumble 2024 was problematic

Cody Rhodes winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match in 2024 made him only the fourth person to win two Royal Rumble matches in a row after Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Furthermore, this was the first time this feat had been achieved in 25 years. Although it was a feel-good historic moment, former WWE head writer Brian Gewirtz seemed to have his reservations.

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Gewirtz claimed that he was highly transparent with his opinion that Rhodes winning the Royal Rumble in 2024 was highly problematic. The Seven Bucks SVP wanted to book Roman Reigns vs. The Rock at WrestleMania XL. Therefore, he suggested that the cleanest thing to do would be to make CM Punk win the whole thing.

After winning his match Rumble, CM Punk could go on to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL. Gewirtz claimed that there was a huge storyline difference between Rhodes wanting to finish the story and having earned the right to finish it by winning the Royal Rumble.
