Everything seems to be going well for Conor McGregor, except for his highly anticipated UFC return. Despite hopes of a 2024 comeback, McGregor won’t be stepping into the octagon this year. However, in true McGregor fashion, he made headlines by entering the BKFC ring. The Irish superstar pulled off a move that even took the promotion’s president by surprise.

As the part owner, McGregor was recently present at the BKFC mega event in Spain. In the main event bout, Franco Tenaglia and Tony Soto delivered the ultimate show from Marbella. At the end of a slugfest, Tenaglia won by a majority decision. McGregor was highly impressed by the fight and gifted the fighters by doubling their fight purse. 

We’re gonna do bonuses, yes for both these gentlemen, as well as a multitude of other people that fought on this card. But what we’re gonna do for these two gentlemen, as well as a bonus, is double the purse. They get double pay. Well done, gentlemen.

During the weigh-ins, he enthusiastically intervened in an expected brawl. It demonstrated his hands-on commitment to the promotion. McGregor also sparked interest by challenging Floyd Mayweather to a bare-knuckle rematch, requesting that Mayweather fight him at 170 pounds. He also provided a passionate commercial for the event, emphasizing the bravery of the fighters involved.

McGregor is well-known for his promotional abilities, and he has taken his role as BKFC owner very seriously. He even sacked Mike Perry from BKFC after his loss to Jake Paul a few months ago. However, his unpredictable nature has brought a unique adjustment to BKFC’s top brass.

Fight fans react to Conor McGregor doubling fight purses of BKFC main event fighters 

Conor McGregor is enjoying his time outside the octagon, especially with the BKFC promotion. After he announced that he would double the fight purse of main event fighters, President David Feldman was caught off guard. Promoters like Dana White have previously regretted after enthusiastically raising fight bonuses.

Though this could be a wise choice to promote BKFC by hyping up fighters, it attracts mixed reactions from fight fans.

Many fans credited Conor McGregor for this initiative as it will bring more publicity to BKFC, and fighters will join the promotion. Some even compared the ‘Notorious’ to his boss Dana White. On the other hand, many made hilarious comments about Feldman losing money after McGregor’s announcement.
