Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington
Colby Covington is the number 1 ranked welterweight on the roster but he still isn’t getting his rematch against his rival and champion Kamaru Usman, and now the champ has said that he needs to see some activity from Covington, beating Woodley alone won’t get him anything.
Usman said, “I mean, I want to see activity and he’s not showing activity. That’s a problem. The champion can be the most active guy in the division because like I said, I’ve lapped everybody and I’m coming back around and you just can’t sit there and say, ‘Oh well, pick me, pick me, pick me.
“Show me activity, give me something, give me a reason. It’s not necessarily me, I know what I’m capable of doing, I’ve done it before. You can ask his jaw; I’ve done that before.”
Now Covington has taken it to social media to fire back at Usman he wrote, “I’m ranked #1 in the world and added a 3rd UFC champion as a victim to my resume in my last fight.”
“You’re beating lightweights and calling out a journeyman with 15 L’s for a rematch after he hasn’t fought in a year since you beat him 50-42. “Show Me AcTiViTy!” You’re a b**ch Marty. Show the world some balls. Fight me.”
Jorge Masvidal said that the fight with Covington will happen when he says so
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were long-time friends and now they are better enemies, Covington called Masvidal out after defeating Woodley in his last fight, and he believes Masvidal doesn’t deserve this title rematch.
Masvidal in his recent interview talked about the possibility of his fight against Covington, he said, “With Colby, it’s like somebody that I really can’t stand, so I really want to hurt this guy in a way that I’ve never done.”
“I want to make it seem like the Ben Askren fight was merciful compared to what I’m going to do to Colby, guaranteed. And that fight will take place, but when I say so. Because remember: Who the f**k is Colby?”
