‘Marty looked like trash’ – Colby Covington after Kamaru Usman’s brutal knockout of Jorge Masvidal
Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman
Colby Covington was one among the 15000 attendees at Florida for UFC 261. The Chaos watched as Kamaru Usman demolished Jorge Masvidal in the second round with a big straight right hand, knocking him out cold. This was Masvidal’s first ever knockout loss in the UFC.
No sooner did Usman beat Masvidal, Covington took to Twitter to criticize the performance of his rival Usman. He tweeted that ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ looked like trash, and added that it was no surprise that a man like Masvidal who has 20 losses suffered yet another defeat.
‘What’s that now, 20 losses?’ – Colby Covington
“Marty looked like trash, but it’s not like you have to be any good to beat @GamebredFighter. What’s that now 20 losses? Backstabbing bum. #ufc261“, Covington tweeted.
UFC President Dana White recently confirmed that the winner of the Usman-Masvidal rematch would be taking on Colby Covington. And, as expected Usman the overwhelming favourite beat Gamebred and looks set to run his UFC 245 fight back with Covington.
UFC 245 – the fight was headed to a decision victory for either of them (it was so closely contested), before Usman destroyed Covington’s jaw and ended the fight towards the end of the fifth round via. TKO. Covington was seen asking for a rematch in the immediate aftermath, and now it looks like he has got his wish granted.
