“Colby Covington used racist game to promote himself” says Ali Abdelaziz as Colby’s comments spark outrage within the MMA community
Colby “Chaos” Covington jumped back to the win column with his dominating performance against long time rival Tyron Woodley at UFC Vegas 11 last Saturday.
However, it was not just his dominance that caught the eyes of the public and MMA community. His racist remarks at the post fight interview and press conference received major heat. The #1 ranked welterweight pounced to the opportunity to incite hate around the BLM(Black Lives Matter) movement.

Covington showed support for POTUS Donald Trump ahead of U.S. elections but also criticised the “woke, spineless athletes like Lebron James”.
Covington on Black Lives Matter
If that was not all, at the post fight press conference, Covington had this to say.
“He’s standing up for lifelong criminals, Covington said of Woodley. “The Black Lives Matter is a complete sham. It’s a joke. They’re taking these people that are complete terrorists. They’re taking these people that that are criminals.”
Covington also add insults towards Nigerian welterweight champion Kamaru Usman with references to his “little tribe” and “smoke signals”.
Ali Abdelaziz Criticise Colby Covington
These acts of “flat-out racism” created an uproar in the MMA community. Ali Abdelaziz, manager of Kamaru Usman and founder of Dominance MMA tweeted the following.
“Colby Covington used racist game to promote himself. The reality is Black Lives Matter , African Lives Matter , Asian Lives Matter , American Lives Matter , Jews , Christian , Muslim Lives Matter You cannot play the heel with people skin color Ame(r)ican”
Surrounding all that has happened within the past week, many fighters have criticised Covington’s remarks on the sensitive issue. Israel Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, Leon Edwards, to name a few.
UFC President Dana White, however turned a blind eye towards the matter. “One of the things that we’ve never done here at the UFC is stop people from expressing how they feel about certain things inside or outside the octagon,” White said. “Even if it’s me, if it’s about me. Who’s more about free speech than we are? We literally let our people do or say whatever it is they do. It’s normal.”
