Chelsea have been thriving under Enzo Maresca this season. The Blues picked up their fifth win of the season as they claimed a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday. As always, the club has Cole Palmer to thank for the win. The Englishman played a huge role in setting up the first goal and scoring the second in a nervy clash.
Palmer played a sublime pass for Pedro Neto from deep inside his own half as the Portuguese picked up the ball near the touchline. He then went on to dribble past his marker and play a magnificent pass to Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese made no mistake to find the net from point blank range as Chelsea gained the advantage.
Even though Alexander Isak pulled his side level from a similar play, Cole Palmer was yet to have his say on the score line. Palmer netted the winner in the 47th minute as he found the bottom left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Although Nick Pope managed to get a hand on the powerful strike, Palmer’s goal was not to be denied. Palmer also won the Player Of The Match award for his performance.
Enzo Maresca explains surprising tactical switch as Chelsea pull off 2-1 win
Enzo Maresca turned heads as he made captain Reece James play left back against Newcastle United on Sunday. The Italian also deployed star man Cole Palmer in a different role as the Englishman dropped a masterclass to earn his side the win. Following the game, Maresca explained his tactical switch and took pride in his side’s strong display.
Despite his excited review, things aren’t all that smooth at the club. In a recent interview, a brutally honest Maresca demanded more leadership from James.
?️ Enzo Maresca: "I really love and like Reece. I was saying the other day, I expected more from the captains, from Reece and the other guys. Inside the pitch, he is a top player.

Footbal pundit Jamie Carragher also tore into the Englishman after the game against Newcastle. He pointed out how Alexander Isak’s goal was a result of James’ carelessness and casualness after being beat by his man. Chelsea are currently in the fifth spot and have 17 points from the first nine games. They play their next game against Newcastle in the EFL Cup before facing Manchester United.
