Cole Palmer rewrote the history books of the Premier League with an incredible showdown in the first half of the game against Brighton Hove and Albion. In what was a goal-scoring masterclass, the English midfielder was in top form, unleashing a 10-minute frenzy. Palmer registered his hat trick from the 21st to the 31st minute while following that with a fourth in the 41st minute.

With four goals scored in the first half itself, Cole Palmer became the first-ever player in Premier League history to register the aforementioned record. Trailing by a goal, Palmer followed the strides of Nicolas Jackson who selflessly teed him up and the former made no mistake in ushering it home.

Next up was a spot-kick after Jadon Sancho was pushed inside the Brighton Box. Palmer stepped up and made no mistake in converting from the dreaded spot. The third of the lot was the best from Palmer as he speared home a free-kick from almost 30 yards out. Despite Brighton’s dramatic enterprise that saw them make it 3-2 through Carlos Noom Quomah Baleba, Palmer hit the back of the net again in the 41st minute.

Once again finding himself on the list of assists, Jadon Sancho teed up his teammate and Palmer added to his tally to make it four in the first half. Chelsea called the shots dominantly while the fans were swinging in frenzied delirium of ecstasy. Brighton showed heart in both the halves, especially after taking the lead in the 7th minute through Georginio Rutter but the hosts were too dominant to let them sniff out anything positive.

With this win, Chelsea racked up their fourth win of the season from the six games that they have played while being defeated just once. More to that, however, the performance carved by Cole Palmer will be another reason for Enzo Maresca to be delighted about. Here are some of the reactions:

Finally, with his players hitting the right notes, Maresca can finally breathe a sigh of reprieve. At the start of the season, there were worries about how Chelsea could lack the coordination that was needed to dismantle their counterparts. The numbers in the practice were overtly worrying but somehow their new gaffer has changed the entire show and the Blues are going for the kill.
