Colin Cowherd Calls Sophie Cunningham the WNBA’s S*x Symbol, Weirding Out Fans – “Don’t You Have a Daughter Her Age?”
Sophie Cunningham runs a podcast under longtime analyst Colin Cowherd's The Volume production company.

Sophie Cunningham has grown in fame ever since she became Indiana Fever teammate Caitlin Clark‘s unofficial bodyguard. That fame has seen her garner a fraction more followers than the WNBA’s golden goose on social media.
Clark doesn’t chase fame and recognition, preferring to let her on-court performances do the talking. She knows how to handle fame in her own way but does ot allow it to define her life and career
She does not need to, considering that the Iowa native is all of 24 years old and has a long and possibly Hall of Fame-worthy career ahead of her. That said, she will continue to be in the spotlight no matter how much she prefers to stay at home and enjoy a quiet time with her family and friends.
Cunningham, on the other hand, is six years older and, without a doubt, nothing more than the Indiana Fever’s best option off the bench. Such financially lucrative opportunities do not come the way of bench warmers, even in the NBA.
Therefore, the Missouri native has made it a point to not just take advantage of every opportunity coming her way, but also maximize her image. That led Colin Cowherd to say this on The Volume.
When you are kind of viewed a little bit as the league’s s*x symbol. Is that fair?… You’re tough, you’ll fight anybody, you’ll taunt anybody. But you’ll make sure, coming into the arena, ‘I look good, and I want you to know I look good.’

“Just say it” @sophaller
“Sex symbol”

The longtime analyst did mention that if this offended Sophie Cunningham, she could ‘virally smack him’ on camera. However, it was evident that the guard enjoyed the conversation and loved that he labeled her as such.
Fans call out Colin Cowherd for inappropriate label on Sophie Cunningham
Most of the things Cunningham says or does nowadays have been nothing but controversial. For Colin Cowherd to add to it by placing this label on her ended up weirding fans out.
They took to social media to flame the veteran journalist for saying something like this on a podcast. Check out examples of those irritated reactions below.

I can’t speak for women, so I’ll you all instead.

Is it a little weird for a 62 year old man to call, or confirm, you’re a “sex symbol” https://t.co/nAwXZnwGTS
“Dad, what was pure unfiltered cringe like back in 2026?”

“Well, son:”
Literally no one considers her "the league's sex symbol."

Colin comes off like a creepy uncle saying this.

In Colin Cowherd’s defense, Sophie Cunningham has leaned into her personality to create this image of a sassy woman who does not shy away from taking on her opponents and also excelling on the court. However, fans felt it was weird for a 62-year-old to present it in that manner.
Sophie Cunningham dismisses WNBA’s off-court distractions
The reason why Sophie Cunningham has surged to be more popular than Caitlin Clark is because of her stand against trans athletes. Those who favor that position have used her words to start a movement that has engulfed the WNBA over the past two months.

She has tried to pin the blame on the media for allowing this to blow up. But when ESPN asked her what she thought about Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White‘s declaration to the WNBA, she replied:
I’m gonna let them do them.
Sophie Cunningham told ESPN
The Missouri Tiger made it clear that her focus is on the Indiana Fever’s upcoming playoff run and wants to ‘dial in’ and make sure she is not distracted by anything happening around the league.
