If there’s any team in the NFL that never fails when it comes to finding a franchise quarterback, it’s the Green Bay Packers. Whether it’s Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and now the emerging star Jordan Love– the Packers hardly miss finding a gem from the NFL drafts.

Favre, the Pro Hall of Famer who broke Peyton Manning’s record by finishing his career with 508 touchdown passes and 71,838 passing yards, was drafted via a trade with Atlanta Falcons, whilst the Packers already had Pro Bowl level quarterback Don Majkowski

Similarly, they drafted Rodgers in 2005 draft pick when Favre was at the prime of his career. Rodgers had three years sitting behind Favre before taking over as the starter for the Packers and leading the franchise to the Super Bowl championship in 2011.

And once again, in the 2020 NFL Draft when Rodgers was at the peak of his career, Green Bay did it again by drafting Love in the first round. Love as well sat behind Rodgers for three years, before he took over as the starter last season and led the Packers to the divisional round of playoffs as seventh-seeded in the NFC.

The Packers’ strategy in finding the franchise quarterback is well-recognized across the league. The Falcons even got so inspired by the Packers’ strategy, that they tried implementing it when they drafted Michael Penix Jr. in the first round despite signing star Kirk Cousins just a few months ago.

In the recent episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the analyst showered high praises on the Packers for the way they handle the NFL’s most crucial position and never misses their mark.

Nothing casual about the NFL and about the way Green Bay Packers do quarterbacks– which is to say, they always do it right. Jordan Love, last year was bad early, good middle, great late. In December, 11 touchdowns, 1 pick, 69% completion percentage, and 107 passer rating… this is what the Packers do, they draft their patient and develop.
said Colin Cowherd
Jordan Love could have easily been another first round miss. A discarded quarterback in a league full of them… In one season, he went from bad to pretty good to wow.

Cowherd gave the entire credit for Love’s development as an emerging star quarterback in the league to the Packers, head coach Matt LaFleur, and General Manager Brian Gutekunst for recognizing Love’s potential and for being patient with his development.
