The Green Bay Packers emerged as the biggest underdogs of the NFL in the 2023-24 season. A team that had no expectations heading into the season managed to go as far as the Divisional Round in the playoffs. It also made one thing clear – Jordan Love is here to be the Packers’ next franchise quarterback for a long time.

After being drafted in 2020 by the Green Bay Packers and being thrust into an unfamiliar situation behind Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love was destined to be the successor of the future Hall of Fame QB. He spent three years waiting for the right opportunity and when he got it, he took full advantage of it. In his recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Love revealed what was running in his mind when he was drafted.

Jordan Love had the following to say:

That's a dream come true and a blessing just to get there. But my mind immediately went to, 'Okay, Aaron Rodgers is there.' I be watching him my whole know...that's his team.
Jordan Love said

He understood for a fact that he was not going to a team that would allow him to fight for the starter’s role immediately.

Jordan Love has had one of the most impressive first-years as a starter in the NFL

In retrospect, Jordan Love could not have asked for a better situation to be put into. The three years he spent watching Aaron Rodgers and taking his advice, has helped him develop as a QB tremendously. In his first year as a starting QB, he managed to have an immediate impact on the team and established himself as the leader of the team. It is now his team, just like how after Brett Favre’s departure, Aaron Rodgers took over, Love has now taken over from him.

Love added:

I'm not coming in and starting right away in this situation. It's going to be a situation where I'm gonna come in and, learn and, you know, develop and be a backup to start and just see what the situation plays out and how it unfolds...(I) right away knew you know, I wasn't coming in to start.

Jordan Love’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys will be hard to forget in the distant future. The quarterback believes that this is the year for the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl. He expressed his confidence in the podcast that the team has all the necessary pieces to achieve this feat. It will be exciting to see how the Packers season unfolds this year.
