Super Bowl LIX will see Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs take on Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Both sides have their strengths and weaknesses, which they have to work with when fighting for the Lombardi trophy.

The Chiefs struggled with consistency in offensive output all regular season. However, as the season progressed, they started to fix those issues and now do a decent job, if not spectacularly. On the other hand, their defense has been playing lights out.

The only time Chris Jones and his young squad were tested in the regular season was against the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their controversial fourth down stop against the Bills in the AFC Championship game added to that narrative. Veteran analyst Colin Cowherd believes that is where the game will be won.

They (Eagles) may not get into the red zone. We now have to be honest, lockdown corner, dominant defensive line, multiple edge defenders, hyperathletic linebackers. I don’t think people are giving Kansas City’s defense the credit. I think it’s really good in big games.

This was the veteran analyst’s response to his colleague Jason McIntyre‘s suggestion that the Philadelphia Eagles’ famous ‘Tush Push’ wreaked havoc in the NFC Championship game. Cowherd believes the Chiefs defense will ensure the Eagles do not end up at their one-yard line.

Jalen Hurts and Eagles might need their Tush Push prepared and ready for Super Bowl LIX

Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs defense knows they had it easier against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game. That offensive line unit is not as powerful or united as the Philadelphia Eagles unit. That is why they could stop Josh Allen on that fourth and 1 play.

The Eagles have made the Tush Push their own. Since last season, that play has become so efficient that other teams wanted the league to ban the play. However, the league chose not to, and now other teams are trying to implement it on their own.

But try as they might, the Eagles as the originator of that play, do it in the best way. Former center and leader of the line Jason Kelce famously revealed what he goes through during that play, but it does not take away from the effectiveness of the play.

Everyone is involved in it and the Washington Commanders could only stop it once in the NFC Championship game. The Eagles baited the Commanders defenders to commit penalties. That means they could use similar strategies again in Super Bowl LIX.
