Colin Kaepernick is close to making a return to the NFL and reuniting with former coach Jim Harbaugh at the Los Angeles Chargers. However, fans might get to see him in a new avatar.
Kaepernick’s dream of once again being part of the football provided him the necessary drive to keep persevering. Shortly after Harbaugh lifted the CFP trophy with Michigan, he spoke with the 36-year-old, asking him if he would join him in LA. Harbaugh received a positive reply.
Yeah, we talked a little bit about it. He’s considering it. He was out of the country. He said he was going to get back to me. We haven’t reconnected since then. That was early, early in the year.Jim Harbaugh said, per Jarett Bell of USA Today Sports.
The talks did not pick up since then until recently, and Harbaugh believes Kaepernick will be a great fit for the Chargers.
If that was ever the path he was to take, I think that would be tremendous. He’d be a tremendous coach if that’s the path he chose.Harbaugh said.

Colin Kaepernick played six seasons under Harbaugh when the 60-year-old was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The duo reached the 2012 Super Bowl but lost to John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens.
Why has Colin Kaepernick not been playing in the NFL?
During the 2016 season, Kaepernick found himself amidst controversy when he kneeled down while the National Anthem played before an NFL game. When asked the reason behind his action, he replied it was to attract attention to the violence against African Americans.
Not only that, he compared the NFL draft system to slavery, making the situation even worse. The majority of the nation didn’t agree with his views, with few exceptions, one of them being former President Barack Obama.
This led to teams distancing themselves from Colin Kaepernick, and according to the former Nevada player, the franchise owners blacklisted him. They would not allow him to play with a team.
His girlfriend, Nessa Diab, accusing Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti of a slave owner, and star player Rey Lewis of being a slave trader, did not help his case. By 2018, Kaepernick was out of the NFL for good, and even though he made efforts to return by organizing tryouts and posting workout videos, everything was in vain. Eventually, both parties agreed to a settlement, which to this day remains confidential.
Last year, after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles, Kaepernick reached out to the Jets for a short-term contract to prove himself but was quickly denied. He also received a big offer from Dwayne Johnson ‘The Rock’ to play in the newly formed UFL, which he refused.
