Morikawa further added that Matsuyama did not have any moment where he slipped up and seemed pleased with his own performance despite falling short again in this event.
Collin Morikawa had finished as a runner-up in this event in 2023 as well. That year, he finished two shots behind Jon Rahm, after firing a score of 25-under. During that event, Morikawa had shot 1-under in the final round, which derailed his chances of walking out as the winner of this signature event.
Hideki Matsuyama sets PGA Tour record following victory at The Sentry
Hideki Matsuyama seemed unstoppable during The Sentry tournament. The golfer posted scores of 65 in three rounds and finished with 62 in the third round. This performance saw him claim his 11th PGA Tour victory and also saw him set a PGA Tour record.
Matsuyama’s final score of 35-under is the lowest par score in the history of the PGA Tour. The previous tour record belonged to Cameron Smith, who shot 34-under at The Sentry as well in 2022.
