In the last few years, the world of golf has seen several changes. The emergence of LIV Golf has left the golfing world divided. Tiger Woods‘ ex-coach Hank Haney has now dropped a bold claim regarding this game.
Since the split, the viewership of the PGA Tour has witnessed a massive decline. While many have pointed fingers at LIV Golf for this, Haney believes that the reason for such a decline is due to the absence of his former student.
In a Q&A session on X, a user pointed out that golf is a dying sport. While Haney first claimed that golf is booming, another user pointed out the same and claimed that amateur golf is thriving.
Replying to this, Haney claimed that the golf is not dying but instead it is declining. He claimed that the decline has come because Woods is no longer there to “carry” it. He also expressed that there will never be another player like Woods.
Professional golf isn’t dying, it’s declining because Tiger isn’t there to carry it, LIV sliced the pie up and the PGA Tour didn’t evolve and address its issues, it is now and things will improve but there will never be another Tiger Woods.

Since his car accident in 2021, Woods has played in limited events. This year he played in the Genesis Invitational, but was forced to withdraw from the event. Apart from that, he also played in the four majors but missed the cut in three of them.
Recently, he was seen participating in the PNC Championship along with his son Charlie Woods. As the father-son duo fought for the title, there was a massive 147 percent increase in viewership.

Hank Haney comments on Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL league
After the first event of the PGA Tour season, fans will turn their attention to the TGL of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The tech-infused league will kick off its inaugural season next week. Woods’ ex-coach Hank Haney shared his views regarding this on social media.

Reacting to a tweet on X, Haney expressed his excitement regarding this new project of Woods and McIlroy. The 69-year-old further stated that the TGL has the possibility of making a big impact on the game of golf.
Can’t wait to see the TGL presentation. This has the potential to positively impact golf in a big way if it’s as good as they think it is. I’m pretty sure this is an exhibition but I love anything that has a positive impact on golf.
