Conor McGregor‘s long-awaited return to the UFC remains an important topic for MMA fans. UFC’s biggest star has not competed in three years. At one point, McGregor vs. Michael Chandler almost happened at UFC 303. Recently, the Irishman has begged the UFC to book his return. With everyone eagerly awaiting his return, Renato Moicano has shared his opinion on McGregor’s return.

Renato Moicano has done multiple media interviews before his scheduled bout against Benoit Saint-Denis. Interviewer John Morgan wanted to know who Moicano would face after facing the French lightweight. Paddy Pimblett is an option, but Morgan brought up Conor McGregor. As such, Moicano became the bearer of bad news regarding the return of the Irishman.

I don’t think McGregor will fight any soon. I don’t know. I don’t think he is [ready]. We saw what he did to Chandler. So I would not take my chance against McGregor because that’s not happening.

‘The Notorious’ has been sidelined since suffering a broken leg during his fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Chandler has now booked another fight after McGregor pulled out from UFC 303 due to a pinky toe injury. The American lightweight will rematch Charles Oliveira at UFC 309. These developments became the basis for Moicano’s bad news about the Irishman’s return.

McGregor has hinted at potentially competing for the BKFC. That will not happen as long as long as he’s under contract. The Irishman has teased a return throughout 2023. Several issues, including not re-entering the UFC’s drug testing pool, have delayed his comeback. Things look like he will return in 2025. Nevertheless, there’s been no shortage of opponents for him in MMA and boxing.

Boxing veteran ready to fight Conor McGregor

If an MMA return doesn’t pan out, there is a possibility Conor McGregor might look to boxing. He revealed as much recently wanting Turki Alalshikh to help out in some way. McGregor is no stranger to boxing after competing against Floyd Mayweather in a blockbuster matchup in 2017. If boxing is what McGregor wants, a veteran is ready to face him.

If McGregor can somehow get permission from the UFC, a boxing match is definitely possible. Jorge Masvidal did it with his boxing bout against Nate Diaz despite having a UFC contract. Recently, Shane Mosley declared an interest in returning to boxing. He hinted at potential big names to fight and McGregor was one of the names.

If he agrees, then I will. I’ll fight any of them. Well, Conor (McGregor), it could be (Manny) Pacquiao; it could be (Floyd) Mayweather. Any of them. All of em.

YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul accused Dana White of intentionally delaying McGregor’s return. Paul felt McGregor remains a hostage for the UFC while they negotiate a new TV rights deal. Any potential deal will have more money involved if it comes with Conor McGregor PPV events. Though this claim remains unproven, all signs indicate the ‘Mystic Mac’ returning sometime in 2025.
