Conor McGregor took to social media to congratulate one of his most notable rivals, Nate Diaz on his anniversary of his fight with Gray Maynard. Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard faced off against each other three times, with the first one in Ultimate Fighter, which Nate Diaz won via submission.

Maynard came back in the next fight, taking the fight via split decision. But, it was the ‘West Coast Gangster’, Nate Diaz who had the last laugh in the third fight, winning via TKO – which completed a memorable trilogy.

Conor and Nate Diaz fought way back at UFC 196, when Nate Diaz stunned the world by taking the fight on a very short notice and ultimately beating Conor McGregor. McGregor came back stronger at UFC 202 in their rematch, taking the fight via majority decision. But, their own trilogy fight never happened!

Conor is coming off a victory over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, whom he defeated in the very first round. Conor, then retired for the third time and is now officially come out of his retirement. He is set to take on ‘Diamond’ Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on the 23rd of January, next year. A win will probably earn the victor a title shot.

Nate Diaz on the other hand, last fought against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, losing by TKO (Doctor Stoppage). Although he is without a fight, he is the kind of guy who can take up a fight even on one day notice. What are your thoughts on this? Will we ever see a Conor McGregor – Nate Diaz trilogy fight?
