Outrage over boxing vs. MMA and unequal fighter payouts is nothing new. With former UFC double-champ Conor McGregor pioneering it, many have wanted to do crossover boxing stints. The blueprint, supposedly, should pay handsomely. However, “Notorious” lays into some hard truths after the success of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 – “The Last Crescendo” card on DAZN PPV.
Dmitry Bivol put out a 12-round masterclass to steal the moniker from ex-undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev. He won the affair over “Silent Assassin” with a majority decision on scores of 114-114, 116-112, and 115-113. The total reported payout of the card is around $32 million; Conor McGregor recently claimed that he toppled Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 pay in his last fight.
If accurate, I made more than this entire card’s estimated payout combined in my last outing for the UFC. 2021. I garnered record gate, as well as record ppv’s for the company through my service. #MONEY

The Beterbiev vs. Bivol 2 DAZN PPV card came from the efforts of Saudi GEA boxing chief and unanimous savior of the 4-belt era – Turki Alalshikh. With the big four (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF) up for grabs, the duo made a reported payout of $10 million each, along with PPV/sponsorship salaries, under Saudi GEA Riyadh Season didactics. The Irishman’s last fight was the Dustin Poirier trilogy and a 2021 TKO injury loss, and yet he made more.

Despite being one of the biggest cards of recent times, McGregor treads ahead. Goes to show that UFC headman/CEO Dana White was right about combat culture being an “eat what you kill” cutthroat spectrum.
Either one remains a forgettable undercard. Or they become sharks like McGregor and even topple big-bank Saudi payouts. McGregor also punctuated 4.3 million PPV buys and a $55 million gate income for The Money Fight: Mayweather Jr. vs. McGregor, 2017.
How much did Conor McGregor make at UFC 264?
McGregor has been involved in many massive fights throughout his career. These have ranged from his grudge matches against Nate Diaz and ‘Diamond’ Poirier. To even the biggest MMA/UFC rivalry – AKA Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.

By the time he’d rematch Lafayette lightweight Poirier yet again, he was already a pronounced superstar. Dustin Poirier went 2-1 up in the back-to-back-to-back rivalry series. Poirier KOed McGregor at UFC 257 in January 2021, and capped their trilogy with a leg-break at UFC 264. Yet, McGregor made big bank on the fadeout.
Per BetGM, McGregor earned in a base salary bracket of $5,000,000 for his UFC 264 loss. The match-up also garnered 1,800,000 PPV buys for the electric affair; he pocketed the $18,000,000 pay-per-view payout. Per NY Fights, the Dubliner also made Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, and sponsorship royalty value payment of $11,000+, totalling $23,011,000.
The total compliance payout for “UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3” was around $218,000. Additionally, along with experience-based pay, McGregor earned perpetuity royalty payments of merch sold. Then there’s undisclosed payouts from UFC brass as well. It is plausible that, boasting the fame he did, the Dubliner’s $23,011,000 did go up to $30,000,000+ and so on.
