Conor McGregor is officially making a comeback this year and everybody is excited. Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo had his speculation about McGregor potentially skipping straight for the title after beating Michael Chandler in his UFC comeback. However, co-host Kamaru Usman seemed to disagree with Cejudo.

Cejudo speculated that after defeating Chandler, Conor McGregor could shoot straight for the lightweight title belt.

This is how the UFC works. I think more likely if Conor does get the victory over Michael Chandler, he could just skip the line once again and fight the winner of Dustin and Islam Makhachev.

However, The Nigerian Nightmare had other ideas. According to him, the UFC is an organization that operates on meritocracy and the best fighter fights the best, not the one that sells most tickets. He gave the example of the BMF title fight at UFC 300 and said that was why Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje was not the main event.

However, Cejudo wanted to disagree saying that the UFC is a promotional organization that vets its events on the fighters but also their ability to sell seats.

Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier are supposed to fight later this year for the lightweight title. Meanwhile, Conor will make his comeback against Chandler this June. It will be interesting to see if Henry Cejudo’s claims turn out to be true.

Chandler recently did an interview with The Mac Life on YouTube. There he talked about his upcoming UFC 303 matchup with McGregor. The TUF coach had an interesting prediction for his fight against the former double champion.

I still see the outcome the same way, I think I’ll put him on his backfoot the first round, make him second guess himself in the first round….and finish him in the second.

Chandler is pretty confident that McGregor will fail before his preparation and resolve. He even hinted at the possibility of a title belt for a 165lb division. It will be interesting to see what happens in one of the biggest comeback fights in recent UFC history.
