Conor McGregor is undoubtedly the biggest superstar in the world of MMA. This makes him a target for everybody who wants to earn millions of dollars via the fight purse. Recently, lightweight Dan Hooker tried his luck by calling out McGregor. As it turns out, the Kiwi fighter does have a sincere offer that could potentially benefit the ‘Notorious.’

At UFC 305, Dan Hooker put on an incredible performance against Mateusz Gamrot in a three-round war. Hooker got viral for his in-between rounds comment about loving the sport while bleeding. After the win, Hooker maintained the same energy by asking for the McGregor fight. Recently, in an interview with Submission Radio, Hooker further doubled down his offer with proper reasoning for McGregor.

You’re gonna fight a guy in the top 5 on a 3-fight win streak, or are you gonna fight a guy who’s not in the top 5 and coming off a loss…He has more to gain from fighting me… my next fight is gonna be a title eliminator. If he genuinely wants to get back in the mix and… earn his way back to a world title, it makes a lot of sense.

Previously Hooker mentioned that his main intention was not to call out McGregor but to troll Michael Chandler. However, it seems like now the ‘Hangman’ is starting to take his chance seriously. Although Chandler is a bigger name, as Hooker mentioned, he’s on a better path for McGregor to get the title shot.

Other than the ‘Mystic Mac,’ Hooker also has the opportunity to fight the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira. However, choosing the McGregor fight over the Brazilian might not be a hard task for the New Zealand native. Nevertheless, everything now depends on McGregor, who is willing to make his comeback later this year.

UFC Hall of Famer believes ‘humbled’ Conor McGregor is serious about his return

Conor McGregor was initially expected to return at UFC 303 but decided to pull out due to an injury. After that, Dana White stopped talking about the Irish superstar. However, White recently revealed that he had talked with McGregor about the comeback fight, but it won’t be this year.

This didn’t go well with the former double champion, who later urged the CEO to announce the fight for December. While White is still skeptical about this move, UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes it’s a good sign. According to Sonnen, this implies McGregor is finally serious about his comeback and utilizing his influence to get the fight.

I believe that he wants to fight. I believe he is going behind the scenes. He loves to faint power. He loves to let people know, ‘It’s all my decision.’ I believe he has humbled himself to say ‘I need the organization to sign off on this.’

Michael Chandler is also pretty active in the mix and is sure about fighting McGregor in December. However, as expected, nothing can be said until the official announcement is made. McGregor is not scarce of potential opponents and it will be interesting to see who finally gets the ‘red panty night.’
