No one has come close to Conor McGregor’s impact on the sport of MMA. The Irish superstar recently became a part-owner of the BKFC. The former two-division UFC champion had fans in stitches with his recent reaction to legendary commentator Mike Goldberg’s broadcasting comeback. He also took shots at Paulie Malignaggi during the broadcast of Knucklemania IV.
A 58-second-long video was posted online on social media. Conor McGregor was seen very enthusiastic at Goldberg’s signature style during a BKFC event. He then went on to mock boxer turned analyst Paulie Malignaggi. He taunted Malignaggi that his boxing career went downhill and now had to commentate fights. McGregor continued to have fun watching the event and occasionally threw insults towards Malignaggi.

Malignaggi has a long-standing beef with McGregor stemming from their infamous sparring sessions ahead of the 2017 boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. The two have traded verbal jabs ever since. McGregor frequently mocked the retired boxer’s in-ring skills. The Irishman’s unfiltered reaction shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with his brash persona. He’s never been one to mince words or hold back jokes at someone else’s expense.
As for Goldberg, his return to combat sports commentary warmed McGregor, as did fans who grew nostalgic for his over-the-top energy and signature calls. Now, he is aligned with the BKFC. Goldberg’s unbridled excitement is once again soundtracking brutal fistfights.
Mike Goldberg recalls the time he was let go from the UFC
Mike Goldberg’s voice was synonymous with the UFC for two decades. His enthusiastic catchphrases like “He’s hurt!” and “It is all over!” provided the soundtrack to some of MMA’s greatest moments. He and Joe Rogan were the staple for UFC events. Many fans felt like they lost an old friend when the longtime commentator abruptly parted ways with the promotion in 2016.
Goldberg opened up about his shocking dismissal after UFC 207 in an interview. He admitted he was speechless upon learning the new UFC owners decided not to renew his contract after 20 years of service. The dismissal was part of widespread layoffs and restructuring under the UFC’s new corporate overlords.
I was speechless. I didn’t know what type of emotion to have, because I was just in a state of shock and disbelief... Joe and I have been so blessed and fortunate to be — and I love the description, ‘the soundtrack’ — so blessed and fortunate to be the soundtrack of the UFC for so long, that it really was, I was in shock and disbelief for that reason.Mike Goldberg via the MMA Hour
Perhaps the most shocking thing for fight fans was the lack of a proper send-off from UFC CEO Dana White. Goldberg had shared close to 20 years of history with him. Their frosty, non-farewell spoke volumes. Goldberg said he found solace in the overwhelming outpouring of support from fighters and fans alike. While he never got an official octagon tribute, their appreciation provided all the validation he needed.
