Conor McGregor’s public image has taken a strange turn following the guilty verdict in the civil case. His peers like Demeterious Johnson and more have left comments expressing their opinions. The Irishman does not take any commentary lightly. The 36-year-old star was spotted bickering back at Johnson for his alleged cocaine addiction remarks.

‘Mighty Mouse’, who is hailed as the most accomplished champion in MMA history, became a target of Conor McGregor’s ire recently. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Johnson advised the Irish star to leave fighting behind and enjoy his spoils of war. He doubted McGregor’s motivation to remain in the sport, linking it to alleged drug abuse.

Conor McGregor, if I was to ask him, why are you still fighting? Like what makes you still wanna come back? You have all the money in the world that you can ever want. Like an extra 10 million, 20 million that shouldn’t affect the 500 million he’s made…I don’t know how much cocaine is I don’t know…but it can’t be that expensive.

McGregor has battled his own demons outside of the octagon as the Irish fighter prepares for his comeback. Not long ago, he showcased intrigue in mixing it up with top 5 lightweight contender Dan Hooker. UFC CEO Dana White seems certain about his return, but at a later date in 2025. It looks like McGregor hasn’t given up on a clash with Michael Chandler despite ongoing legal problems.

After Demetrious Johnson, Conor McGregor took aim at Michael Chandler for possible fight

Chandler and McGregor were originally slated to headline UFC 303, but the fight fell off. McGregor suffered an unfortunate toe injury, causing him to take a step back. The duo went through an entire season of TUF, building up the epic clash that never happened. Now, revisiting the old matchup, McGregor assured Chandler of a rebooking.

The aftermath of the civil case saw many brands parting ways with the Irish star, including Proper 12 Irish Whiskey. In a bid to offer some sage advice, Chandler urged McGregor to shift his focus to a common goal. In a now deleted tweet, McGregor offered his reaction to his rival and gave Chandler some assurance.

Chandler is ranked 7th in the lightweight division and has struggled to find his footing in the UFC. Suffering 4 losses in his last 5, the UFC star desperately needs a win. McGregor is also facing similar troubles, losing 3 out of his last 5 fights since 2018. This match-up can benefit both fighters to get back into the win column while also opening doorways for McGregor’s possible return to the top 10.
