This past weekend, the gender dispute regarding athletics once again flared up. In a high jump event at the Oregon state championship on Saturday night, two female athletes refused to share the podium with a transgender athlete. Activist Riley Gaines would later lash at the authorities for this.
As per reports from Fox News, two athletes, Reese Eckard of Sherwood High School and Alexa Anderson of Tigard High School, stepped down from the podium. The duo would not stand alongside a trans athlete who represented Ida B. Wells High School.
Both of these athletes had finished ahead of the trans athlete. Eckard came in 4th while Anderson clinched the 3rd spot.
As the competitors would receive their medals, the two females would turn their backs and face the opposite direction. An official would confront them and gesture to them to walk sideways. The two female athletes would later walk away from the scene.
Riley Gaines, who has become an activist and is trying to stop the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports, would slam the authorities on social media. The former NCAA swimmer expressed that the “girls had enough” while sharing the video of the incident.
Watch this. Two female athletes in Oregon refused to stand on the podium because a boy was awarded a place. Girls have had enough.

The trans athlete had previously competed in the male category during 2023 and 2024. Over the past few years, there have been several instances where female athletes have raised their voices while competing against trans athletes.
In February this year, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. Oregon is one of many Democratic-controlled states that have seen trans athletes competing in women’s track and field championships this weekend despite this order from the US President.
Riley Gaines slams Democratic-states for allowing trans athletes to participate in women’s sports
Despite the executive order from Donald Trump, there have been several states where transgender athletes have been allowed to take part in women’s sports. This past week, former PENN swimmer Riley Gaines released a video on her X account and slammed Democratic states.

Apart from the incident at Oregon, there were a few more highly-publicized incidents taking place in California, Washington, Maine and Minnesota. In her video, Gaines would take a jab at these states.
Boys stole girls’ state titles, podium spots, or qualifying spots in California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, and Maine. That is five blue states just this past week… I wanted to make this video tonight because I’m heartbroken and, truthfully in disbelief that this is still happening, that Democrats are doubling down on this issue.
Enough is enough we need to protect our girls or their sports will disappear

As per Fox News, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) filed a Title IX discrimination complaint against Oregon for its laws that allow trans athletes to compete in women’s sports. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Justice has already filed a lawsuit against Maine for defying the order of President Trump.
The 78-year-old previously claimed that federal funding could be paused for California, regarding the situation of AB Hernandez. The trans athlete recently won 2 tracks events in California, which ignited some fierce reaction among social media users.
Riley Gaines takes swipe at Imane Khelif after old alleged gender test goes viral
On Sunday, an alleged old gender test of Olympic gold medalist Imane Khelif went viral on social media. The test reports claim the Algerian boxer to be a biological male. As this went viral, Riley Gaines took a swipe at the boxer.

Khelif faced extreme backlash during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. A year before the games, she was disqualified by the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the World Boxing Championships.
The body claimed that she failed the tests, which would allow her to compete as a woman. However, the body did not provide clear results regarding this, which led the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to call this decision unfair.
As per the reports of the old gender test, which were conducted during the World Championships in New Delhi in 2023, Khelif was deemed a biological male. Gaines would voice her frustration regarding this on her X account.
To all the people that insisted Imane Khelif was a woman because his passport said so, You were wrong. We were right. Sincerely, People with functioning eyes and a shred of honesty

This development also came after the World Boxing updated its rules. As per the new regulations, Khelif will have to undergo sex screening before any event to participate as a female. The Olympic champion is yet to respond to this new development.
