When it comes to running between the wicket, Virat Kohli is one of the fastest. Not only he finds a gap between the fielders but whenever the opportunity arrives, he steals a quick single. And due to his fitness and speed, he has amassed heaps of runs in all formats of the game.

During an interaction with AB de Villiers, Kohli was asked who he thinks was the worst runner between the wickets. By recalling an incident during the Test series against South Africa in 2018, the 34-year-old named veteran Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara as the worst one when it comes to running between the wickets.

That’s controversial one. Cheteshwar Pujara. I’ll tell you a story on it,” Kohli said with a big smile and narrated a tale about the Centurion Test in 2018 on de Villers’ YouTube channel Three Sixty. He then added that the moment he walked into the dugout and sat on the seat, he heard celebrations because when Pujara played the first ball, Lungi Ngidi picked it up and ran him out. “First innings, no worries,” Kohli said.

Then the former captain added in the second innings, Parthiv Patel played a ball, wide of the gully, and de Villiers picked it up but Pujara called for the third run. “And on this call, running to the dangerous end, when they showed the replays there was no one on the screen. Quinie (Quinton de Kock) just took the bails off, there was no one there. I was like, ‘You were run out in the first innings. How can you be so brave to take on the quickest man on the field and then not be seen on the screen while being run out? That’s the worst call I have seen in my life,” Kohli added.

Virat Kohli thinks in recent years, cricket has become a game of mutual respect. Things which were used to be too intense and created tension between the teams have significantly gone down, but not the competitiveness, Kohli thinks.

The Delhi-born batter is known for his aggressive disposition on the field but he thinks after the Indian Premier League (IPL), the verbals and sledging are not nasty any more, which is quite progressive and players have camaraderie among them.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli when India will take on Australia in the decider of the three-match ODI series today (Wednesday, March 22) in Chennai. In the previous two ODIs, he scored 4, and 31 respectively.
