Cory Sandhagen is open to fighting T.J Dillashaw in a title eliminator: “If we have to eliminate another option, I’ll fight T.J.”

Cory Sandhagen

Cory Sandhagen is all ready to fight for the Bantamweight title. With a lot of options for title contenders, it is unlikely that Cory would get an easy shot at the title. Cory doesn’t mind it. He is ready to fight in a Title Eliminator if that’s what it will take.
Ideally, ‘The Sandman’ would be fighting the reigning champion, Petr Yan, but the 28-year-old is open to a no. 1 contender fight with T.J Dillashaw. There are chances that Cory might be the No. 1 contender for the title after his spectacular knockout against UFC legend, Frankie Edgar.
But being self-aware Cory knows the reality of the UFC business which might not give him a direct shot. “Cause the UFC, it’s a business and they operate as a business. T.J. is a much bigger name than I am. He’ll probably get more sales for stuff maybe than I will, and that’s concerning for me.”, Sandhagen told in an interview on Wednesday.
“That being said, I don’t want them to just feed T.J. some really lackluster fight just so that they can say he’s coming off a win. If it comes down to it, I think I should be the next one fighting for the title, but if we need to eliminate another option, which is T.J., then I’ll fight T.J., and then I’ll fight for the title, too.”
Cory admits that T.J sells more tickets than him

The Sandman is 9-1 in his last ten fights with two spectacular wins against Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes. Meanwhile, Dillashaw is the #2 ranked fighter in the Bantamweight division coming off a KO victory against Henry Cejudo at the UFC Fight Night 143.
Cory believes he is the right contender for the title but is also aware that UFC will pander to T.J since he sells more tickets. “I think that I earned it but if I fight TJ, absolutely will do that,” Sandhagen said. “But like you said and like I’m saying, [Dillashaw] shouldn’t even really be in the conversation, and I’m definitely next.”
