The world continues to grapple with the tragic loss of Marshawn Kneeland, further intensified by an unexpected accusation against the police made by a family member. Days after what was deemed a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kneeland’s sister and first cousin, Jasmine, has voiced concerns about the police’s actions leading up to the discovery of the Dallas Cowboys defensive end’s body.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Jasmine accused the police in pursuit of Kneeland of “killing him.” According to the article, Marshawn’s actions went against his nature as he was “not a hot head.” She alleged that “something made him [Kneeland] really scared and he ran.”

I truly think they killed him, I truly do. Because why else would he run for his life, then kill himself in a porta-potty?

Jasmine told the Daily Mail

On November 7, Plano Police located an abandoned vehicle in the southbound lanes of Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. With the help of dogs and drones, they discovered Kneeland’s deceased body and a firearm, thought to be used to inflict the wound.

However, Jasmine refused the notion that Marshawn would take his own life. She remembered the 24-year-old as someone who cared for his family, made TikTok videos, and surprised them with gifts.

Why would he do something like that all of a sudden? That’s not the person I know. Our family is utterly devastated.

Jasmine further thwarted the suicide theory, claiming that Kneeland planned on attending ‘the big reunion’ back home, where he grew up.

We do that kind of thing. All the children come, all the family comes together… He was supposed to be here with us in Grand Rapids. Not dead after a police chase.

A police dispatch video recovered by TMZ revealed that the troopers mobilized at the request of Kneeland’s girlfriend, who received a “goodbye” message from him. The NFL also called on the authorities to act swiftly and bring him home before anything unfortunate happened.

Kneeland’s death left a massive impression on the entire nation. He was a rising star who scored a touchdown in the Cowboys’ last home game against the Arizona Cardinals.
