Jadeveon Clowney broke his silence on his arrest before signing with the Dallas Cowboys. The arrest left him frustrated.
Sunday, September 14, was a memorable day for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did they secure their first win of the season by defeating the New York Giants, but they also signed All-Pro linebacker Jadeveon Clowney.
However, Clowney found himself under police custody two days before officially becoming a Cowboy.
According to police reports obtained by various outlets, Clowney was detained for misdemeanor charges of trespassing and failure to identify following a parking dispute at an apartment complex in his hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Speaking with ESPN’s Todd Archer, Clowney explained that he plans to dispute the charges in court.
It was a parking situation and just escalated. If you know anything about South Carolina, where I’m from, you know how that can go left very fast and that kind of went left.

Why was Jadeveon Clowney arrested?
The police were on the lookout to prevent illegal parking during a high school football game at Rock Hill. They stopped Clowney from parking, even after the All-Pro LB told them his aunt lived in the nearby apartment complex.

Both parties started arguing when the police forbade him from parking because he wasn’t a resident. Clowney refused to budge from his stance, which resulted in his arrest.
Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill Jr. tweeted,
Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney said he was arrested parking at his aunt’s house at a high school football game. He said he was detained for no more than 20 minutes and was back at the game before the second quarter. He is frustrated by the entire matter. It is the first time that he’s been arrested. And it’s the type of stuff he has had to deal with his entire life growing up there. He plans to fight the case.

He is frustrated by the entire matter. It is the first…
Two days later, he signed with the Cowboys. It was clearly a move to fill the void left by Micah Parsons.
He’s been an outstanding player; he’ll add some real depth. He’s very credible. He’ll help us.
Owner Jerry Jones said
Clowney spent the 2024 season with the Carolina Panthers, racking up 46 combined tackles and 5.5 sacks. A year earlier, he was on the Baltimore Ravens, where he had 9.5 sacks (equaling his 2017 tally with the Houston Texans).
The Texans drafted the South Carolina graduate first overall in 2014. Since then, he has made 140 appearances in the NFL, recording 409 combined tackles, 58.0 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 32 pass deflections, and one INT.

Clowney would come in handy against the Bears
The Brian Schottenheimer era in Dallas got off to a losing start against the reigning world champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. They bounced back against the Giants, but the game required overtime to decide the outcome.
In week three, the Cowboys face the 0-2 Bears at Soldier Field. This will be their 29th meeting in the league, with the Cowboys leading the series 16-12.
Jerry Jones expects Jadeveon Clowney to play against the Bears on Sunday. Brian Schottenheimer was not so committed. Clowney has been with the Cowboys less than a week and has yet to go through a full practice. The team has held walk throughs and no padded practices this week.…
