Steals at IPL 2022 Mega Auction: David Warner and Yuzvendra Chahal

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction saw teams going bonkers after some of the most anticipated names in Bengaluru. However, some big players couldn’t bank a handsome amount, at least not as much as they had thought!

Now, let’s look at the top five biggest steals of the IPL 2020 mega auction:

David Warner (Delhi Capitals – 6.25 cr)

Australia opening batter David Warner is back to where he started in the Indian cash-rich league, Delhi Capitals (DC). The former SRH skipper has been in phenomenal form in the shortest format as he was the ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants – 6.75 cr)

Explosive South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock was bought by one of the two new IPL teams – Lucknow Super Giants for a bargain price of INR 6.75 crores. The southpaw has done well for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the past and will look forward to continuing with the same at IPL 2022.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Rajasthan Royals – 6.50 cr)

India’s best limited-overs spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was grabbed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a steal deal. One of the most successful bowlers in the history of the tournament was surely a candidate for taking home at least INR 10 crores but went for a minimum 30-40 per cent cut.

Mohammed Shami (Gujarat Titans – 6.25 cr)

Indian spearhead Mohammed Shami might consider himself a bit unlucky to grab a deal of just INR 6.25 crores by Gujarat Titans at the IPL 2022 mega auction. On one hand, other seam bowlers gained far handsome deals while Shami was definitely taken for a lesser amount.

Rahul Chahar (Punjab Kings – 5.25 cr)

The spinners didn’t seem to have a great time under the hammer as just like Chahal, Rahul Chahar emerged as a cheap buy at the auction. The Punjab-based franchise secured the services of this leggie for INR 5.25 crores ahead of IPL 2022.
