- Jasprit Bumrah is the only bowler to be included in ICC’s all-time lists for Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
- He achieved career-best figures of 4/15 in the 2026 T20 World Cup final, leading India to victory.
- Bumrah currently ranks as the No. 1 Test bowler and has taken 504 wickets in 236 matches since his debut.
As a master of his trade, Jasprit Bumrah is the only bowler in the history of cricket to be included in the ICC’s all-time lists of greatest bowlers for all three formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. In fact, Bumrah is the sole bowler to have topped the rankings charts across all these formats.
Jasprit Bumrah was at his absolute best in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he once again finished among the highest wicket-takers in a victorious campaign for India. During the 2024 tournament, he had picked up 15 wickets in eight matches at an unbelievable average of 8.26, to win the POTS award. He was pivotal in India’s final win over South Africa, where he bowled an impressive spell of 2/18 to help his team secure a narrow seven-run win.
Once again in the 2026 final, Bumrah delivered a masterclass, recording career-best figures of 4/15 against New Zealand, to help India triumph by 96 runs. His performance propelled him to the No. 5 spot on the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings, but it even earned him the tag of the ‘greatest’ fast bowler. Experts have gone to the extent of distinguishing him as the ‘best’ to have played across all three formats internationally.
A recent statistic points to another unparalleled aspect of Jasprit Bumrah’s dominance, with the 32-year-old now the only player to feature on the all-time list of highest-rated bowlers in the ICC rankings. For Bumrah, it occurs across all three formats.
Currently ranked the no.1 Test bowler, he is joint 18th on the all-time rankings, having achieved a career-high rating of 841 points. In the ODI format, the Gujarat-born pacer is joint 16th, having achieved a highest career rating of 908 points.

Coming to the shortest format, he is ranked 16th on the all-time list, with a career-best rating of 764 points. Jasprit Bumrah is also the only bowler to have made it to the top of the rankings across all three formats, T20I (2017), ODI (2018), and Test (2024). Muttiah Muralitharan, Glenn McGrath, Malcolm Marshall, Curtly Ambrose, Richard Hadlee, Shaun Pollock, R Ashwin only appear in two all-time lists.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is now aiming to climb the ranks of India’s all-time highest wicket-takers, as he currently sits in eighth place. Since his 2016 debut, he has taken 504 wickets in 236 matches at an impressive average of 20.49.
Jasprit Bumrah, Rashid Khan, and Sunil Narine, among IPL’s ‘best’ to have never won Purple Cap
The IPL Purple Cap remains the biggest prize; every bowler in the tournament hopes to win. Surprisingly, a host of elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Rashid Khan, and Sunil Narine, have not yet won the Purple Cap, despite having established themselves at the highest level.

On top of this list is Jasprit Bumrah, who is the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the competition’s history. He has scalped 183 wickets in 145 appearances in the IPL, while bowling at a staggering average of 22.02, and an economy rate of 7.24. However, the Purple Cap has eluded Bumrah since his debut season in 2013, with him reaching close in 2024 (third place), 2021 (third), 2020 (second), and 2017 (third).

West Indies’ and KKR veteran Sunil Narine is another top bowler who has not won the Purple Cap, in spite of him being named the Most Valuable Player a record three times. Ex-Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan, who currently plays for the Gujarat Titans; New Zealand’s Trent Boult, who plays for the Mumbai Indians; retired Indian spinners R Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, and Amit Mishra, are the others on this unlucky list.
Coming to the victors, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2016, 2017) and Dwayne Bravo (2013, 2015) are the only players to have won the IPL Purple Cap twice. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is the tournament’s all-time highest wicket-taker, with 221 scalps to his name.
