The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction saw teams going bonkers after some of the most anticipated names in Bengaluru. There has been a trend over the years where overseas players earn comparatively higher than domestic talents. However, the Indian players were amongst the top buys and here are the top five costliest Indian buys of IPL 2022 mega auction:

Ishan Kishan (Mumbai Indians – INR 15.25 cr)

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is set to return to his previous franchise of Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2022. The talented youngster became the second most expensive Indian player in the history of the tournament and also marked his team’s biggest buy at any auction. 

Deepak Chahar (Chennai Super Kings – INR 14 cr)

Speedster Deepak Chahar was expected to be India’s most expensive pick at the IPL 2022 and that indeed turn out to be true! The Yellow Army showed their loyalty and picked their ex-man for a whopping INR 14 crores to secure his services for the upcoming edition.

Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders – INR 12.25 cr)

Former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer found a base at Kolkata for IPL 2022 after receiving a massive of INR 12.25 crores. The right-handed batter also looks like the next captaincy choice for the Knight Riders as he performed exceptionally well in this role during the previous seasons.

Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore – INR 10.75 cr)

The leading wicket-taker of the 14th edition of the IPL, Harshal Patel is back to his previous side – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL 2022. The domestic cricket took home INR 10.75 crores, much higher than his deal of the previous season where he traded from the Capitals.

Shardul Thakur (Delhi Capitals – INR 10.75 cr)

All-rounder Shardul Thakur or as the netizens like to call him, ‘Lord Shardul’ was bought a staggering amount of INR 10.75 crores by Delhi Capitals (DC). The Mumbai cricketer has performed very well in all three disciples for CSK and Team India in the last few years.
