Andrew Tye gets debut cap from Lucknow Super Giants
Andrew Tye has been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for injured England pacer Mark Wood for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Wood injured his elbow in England’s first Test against the West Indies earlier this month. Tye has played 32 T20Is for Australia, taking 47 wickets.
The right-arm pacer, who has played 27 IPL matches and taken 40 wickets, will join LSG for INR 1 crore. LSG, who will make their IPL debut this season, will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign on March 28 against Gujarat Titans at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Tye is a seasoned T20 specialist who is also well-versed in IPL tactics. In fact, he won the purple cap in the 2018 edition of the competition while playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). As a result, the 35-year-old faces a lot of pressure.
Andrew Tye is making his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants against the Chennai Super Kings. In the presence of all of the team’s players and support staff, he was presented with the Lucknow cap. Tye has previously played for a number of IPL teams. He has performed admirably for the Punjab Kings, Gujarat Lions, and Rajasthan Royals.
