Wanindu Hasaranga, the Royal Challenger Bangalore’s (RCB) bowler took a four-wicket haul in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. After getting the wickets, Wanindu Hasaranga was seen celebrating in a way that got him under the public eye.

After winning the Player of the Match award, the 24-year-old then revealed that he copied the style of Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr.’s trademark celebration. He also said he doesn’t take much pressure while playing.

Hasaranga said: “Crucial situation, I got only four and got out. I am really happy. Especially with the dew, it is very hard to bowl. My favorite footballer is Neymar and that is his celebration which I do. When I go play, I don’t take any pressure. That’s why I feel I got success.”

RCB released Wanindu Hasaranga after 2021 season but again signed him for a massive Rs. 10.75 crores in the mega auction. He has justified his price tag so far. After a poor start at their side’s opening game against the Punjab Kings, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner grabbed five wickets in just two matches and would try to keep this form in the later matches. He picked his first wicket of KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, then Sunil Narine and Sheldon Jackson’s wickets.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer also praised Wanindu Hasaranga and revealed that their team had planned to play him as an off-spinner but Hasaranga defied them all.

He said: “He bowled really well, he got off to a good start after getting my wicket. I was able to read him pretty well at the start. We had decided that we’ll play him as an off-spinner but unfortunately, he bowled really good lines and lengths. He’s also very experienced and he was getting some help on this wicket. Congratulations to him.”

RCB will play their third match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
