Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is one of the fittest players in the world. Kohli is very conscious about his fitness. Sri Lankan batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa believes that skill is the most important thing for a player. Bhanuka Rajapaksa also says that it is not possible to survive in modern era cricket without achieving the required fitness standards. This Sri Lankan batsman has called Kohli the Cristiano Ronaldo of cricket in terms of fitness .

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who was dropped from the national team due to fitness issues, now wants to talk to India’s fittest cricketer Virat Kohli in this regard. Being a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) could give the 30-year-old Sri Lankan an opportunity to meet the former India captain and he hopes it will benefit him.

Rajapaksa announced his international retirement in January 2022 and then withdrew it a week later at the insistence of the authorities. However, he also missed the opportunity to visit India last month due to the same fitness issue. Rajapaksa is confident that spending two months with Punjab Kings will greatly benefit his game and will take his fitness to the next level.

‘You can learn a lot by talking to Virat Kohli’

Rajapaksa said in an interview to PTI, ‘IPL is the best league in the world and you get to learn a lot about the game from each and every member of your team, so I am learning a few things from Shikhar Dhawan. I have a good rapport with Mayank Agarwal as we played under-19 together.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa is playing for Punjab in IPL 2022

Bhanuka is currently playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 while Virat Kohli is participating as a batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli scored an unbeaten 41 runs in his first match in the current season of IPL. However, despite scoring more than 200, RCB had lost against Punjab in the first match.

According to Bhanuka, ‘Virat Kohli is such a player outside the team that I can talk to and get some advice about fitness. He is on a very different level when it comes to fitness. To me, he is definitely the Cristiano Ronaldo of cricket. He is no match when it comes to fitness and skill. He plays very well and you can learn a lot just by talking to him.
