Indian international cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s father breathed his last today at his residence. Kiranpal Singh was reportedly suffering from liver cancer and was already in a critical condition. Kiranpal Singh served in the police department in Meerut and had taken voluntary retirement earlier. Even recently, he had given an interview appealing for his son Bhuvneshwar to be voted as the ICC Player of the Month for March which he eventually won as well, after which Kiranpal expressed his happiness.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father Kiranpal Singh passed away today after his condition deteriorated two weeks ago following chemical treatment. He was admitted to a hospital in Ganganagar and another in Muzaffarnagar as well where his stable condition had returned. However, various diseases started cropping up yet again such as jaundice which led to his health condition worsening and ending in his death.

Kiranpal Singh is survived by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, wife Indresh Devi and daughter Rekha. The cricketer was reportedly looking after his father throughout while at home when his condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, Abhinav Mukund took to Twitter to write, “With great sadness, i would like to inform you all that i have lost my grandfather Mr. TK Subbarao to CoVid19. He was 95. A man known for his discipline and his exemplary routines, was otherwise hale and healthy till the virus took him away. Om Shanti!

With regard to cricketing action, Abhinav Mukund has been long out of the Indian team. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not picked in the squad for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) which would have meant that he wouldn’t have been able to be with his father in his last hours as the players are now under hard quarantine in Mumbai. Bhuvneshwar had a good series against England in limited overs and he is now expected to be picked for the series against Sri Lanka which is scheduled for July. The series will be played without India’s stars of the red ball format due to their commitments in England with the final and a five-match series against England.
