“SURESH RAINA – UNSOLD” – This came as an utter shock for many cricket fans across the globe at the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction.
The two-day event finally came to an end on February 13 at the ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru. This witnessed many cricketers becoming millionaires and getting a chance to showcase their talent on a global stage in the upcoming season. On the other hand, some of the top names went home without locking any deal on both days of the auction and Suresh Raina was the greatest name amongst them.
Mr IPL, who has been an integral part of the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has been one of the most consistent batters in the history of the tournament. The southpaw has over 5,500 runs against his name in 200 innings at a decent average of 32.52. However, Raina didn’t have a great last season for the Chennai team and his inactivity from professional cricket may have cost him a deal ahead of IPL 2022.
