Watch: “Gayle Strom Coming?” Fans go crazy as Universe Boss Chris Gayle gears up for the next IPL

Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle, the self-proclaimed “Universe Boss,” has been a powerhouse in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Even at the age of 42, he was a brute force who hadn’t run out of gas. He began his career with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), then moved on to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He joined the Punjab Kings after leaving the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He spent four seasons with the Punjab-based team before being released.
Chris Gayle will not play in the 2022 IPL after entertaining fans for several years. The Jamaican did not participate in the Indian Premier League’s mega auction on February 12 and 13. It invariably brought an end to his illustrious career.
Chris Gayle was best known for his ability to bat in the top of the order. There was a time when he would throw the kitchen sink at everything from the start. He used to assist his team in taking advantage of powerplay opportunities. Gayle batted in the middle order for the Kings and contributed some useful runs. Once he got going, bowlers found it difficult to stop him.
Chris Gayle is the IPL player with the most sixes in his career. In his illustrious career, the southpaw has smacked 357 sixes in 141 innings. Former South African batter AB de Villiers is second on the list, with 251 sixes.
On Monday, however, he posted a picture of himself in a gym on his Instagram story, captioning it, “Work just started!!” Let’s go, in preparation for the IPL next year!”

Chris Gayle also set the record for most sixes in a single IPL season in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015. The southpaw used to make a huge impact at the top of the order after unleashing some fearless shots.

“He would challenge you to a race and easily beat you,” KL Rahul says of Chris Gayle’s awe factor

KL Rahul, a Team India batter, has described West Indian legend Chris Gayle as someone who can be lightning quick if he wants to be. He also stated that the power enjoyed by West Indian batters such as himself has felt extremely unfair at times.
Rahul had the opportunity to see and interact closely with the ‘Universe Boss’ during his time as captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
During an appearance on the talk show ‘Breakfast with Champions,’ the 29-year-old expressed his admiration for Chris Gayle. Rahul stated:
“The guy I saw in 2013 and the guy I last partied with in 2020 IPL season, his energy levels have just gone up. I’m like how do you do this? I’ve seen him hit a six from the toe of the bat. You know, it was a 70-72 meter six. Even if I hit it (the ball) from the middle of the bat, with great difficulty, it goes 75 meters. I was like ‘this is unfair’.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain added that Gayle can easily beat fellow cricketers in a race. He explained:
“He would challenge you to a race and beat you hands down. Over 30 meters sprint, he will eat you up. He’s quick, he can move, when he wants to move. I’m like ‘Chris, what’s happening?’ He’s like, ‘No, I’m getting younger, I’m like fine wine’.”
On a more serious note, he recalled receiving advice from the Caribbean legend after being dropped for a series in the West Indies despite performing well in the 2019 World Cup. He revealed what Gayle had told him, saying:
“See you can always say that you’re not playing because of 100 other reasons but it’s in your hands whether you play or not. If 70 is not enough, get 150. If you are getting 150, get 200 if that’s not enough. That’s how you need to look at things. If a 600-run IPL season is not enough, then get 800. Or like you’re getting 50s, 60s in the World Cup, you should have converted that and gotten 100-120s. Then no one has the power to drop you.”
