South Africa’s former pacer and SRH bowling coach Dale Steyn was seen conducting a special Yorker practice session for T Natarajan and other fast-bowlers on Friday, March 25 for the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, which will commence from tomorrow.

Last year, despite the presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SRH’s fast-bowling department was not up to the mark. To improve this department, they brought in Dale Steyn as the team’s bowling coach. Steyn is not new to the team as he was part of the Orange Army from 2013 to 2015. He retired from international cricket last year in August. Steyn is famously known for delivering Yorkers in the death overs.

Dale Steyn said: “One day you can bowl perfectly, bowl exactly where you want, but the batsman might nick it for four, the umpire might not give it out. Then the next day you might bowl a half-volley, and he’ll smack it straight up in the air and get caught. Bowling is never really a perfect science, but we practice for perfection. That’s what we do. Let’s get the odds in our favor. Today, we’re going to practice our Yorkers, and your goal is to hit those shoes.”

A strong bowling line-up for SRH

In the 2021 season, SRH had a torrid campaign. The bowling unit wasn’t very intimidating and this proved to be a mighty failure for one of the most successful teams of IPL. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan were the only two pillars of the bowling department.

This year, SRH does have a fantastic bowling line-up with the likes of pacers T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, Marco Jansen, and principal spinner and new recruit Washington Sundar. Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals on March 29. Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders the next day.
