In the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, the latter’s bowlers produced a clinical effort at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday, April 20.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Punjab batsmen had a poor outing as they were all bundled out for 115. Only Jitesh Sharma, with 5 fours could score 32. Punjab lost their openers Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan before the powerplay and one by one Delhi’s bowlers trapped the opponent batsmen. Khalil Ahmed, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 2 wickets each and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket.

Covid scare erupts in Delhi Capitals’ camp

This match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings would have been cancelled due to covid outbreak in the Delhi camp. DC physio Patrick Farhart, sport massage therapist Chetan Sharma, and team doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media content team manager Akash Mane were found Covid infected.

Just before this match, Tim Seifert tested positive for Covid. However, BCCI has confirmed that the match will be played as per the schedule.

“The entire Delhi Capitals contingent underwent 2 rounds of COVID testing today. Match No. 32 involving Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings scheduled today at the Brabourne- CCI will go ahead as per the schedule after the second round of COVID tests returned negative today,” BCCI said in a release.

As per the new IPL regulation, a total of 12 players and seven foreign players are needed for the match to happen. If the minimum player requirement is not met due to members’ covid cases, the match will be rescheduled.

On Tuesday, BCCI had shifted the match between Delhi and Punjab to Mumbai from Pune to ensure no COVID infection goes undetected in the bio-bubble.
