Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals are on a roll in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team won their fourth consecutive match in IPL 2021 as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs. It was another mind-boggling performance by the Capitals as they excelled in all three facets of the game be it batting, bowling or fielding.

Playing at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to chase the score. Batting in the first innings, DC got off to a poor start as they lost both the opening batters in four overs at a score of 21. It was the team’s former skipper Shreyas Iyer who took the job of an anchor and ensured that the team reaches a decent score.

Though Delhi’s middle-order tried accelerating their innings, Rajasthan kept a constant check on the flow of runs. In the end, Pant and Co. ended with 154 runs in their 20 overs. Iyer was the highest run-scorer with 43 runs with quick cameos by Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel.

For Rajasthan, Mustafizur Rahman and Chetan Sakariya led the seam attack as they picked two wickets each. Kartik Tyagi and Rahul Tewatia also had one under their belt. In the second innings, it was DC’s bowling unit who was under pressure as they had to defend 154 at the pitch of Abu Dhabi.

Delhi Capitals took up the challenge and completed it with perfection. With the new ball, Avesh Khan and Anrich Nortje put up a good show as they picked early wickets. The same was followed by the other bowlers producing a disciplined bowling action to steer their team to victory.

Though Sanju Samson showed his valiance and resilience, he was the lone warrior for the Royals. The skipper fought hard as he added up 70 runs in 53 deliveries. However, no other batter showed any fight as RR lost by 33 runs. With this loss, the team now has featured in nine matches, winning four and losing five.
