ENG vs IND: “Was always of the belief that if I have something different I can always take advantage” – Jasprit Bumrah on his bowling action

Ace Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah has asserted that he always believed in making a difference with his ‘unorthodox’ action. His short run-up and awkward bowling style is always the talking point for almost every cricket expert. Many former cricketers also claim that it won’t be easy for Bumrah to sustain for long while playing across all formats in international cricket.

Talking about his recent performance, Bumrah seemed to have regained his long lost form with the ball. The 27-year-old claimed nine wickets during the maiden Test match between India and England at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Adding to this, he also scored crucial 28 runs with the bat during India’s first innings.

During the post-match interaction with Sky Sports, Jasprit Bumrah not just talked about his bowling action but also commented on the importance of Test cricket.

“Lot of questions about my action, I was always of the belief that if I have something different I can always take advantage and keep on improving. Test matches take a lot out of your body, and for me, it’s always Test cricket growing up and as a youngster, if someone asks me, I tell them that this is a format if you want to be recognised and gives you a lot of rewards,” he said.

The Gujarat cricketer pointed out how the visitors reaped rich fruits on making a few adjustments in their bowling lengths as the pitch played out.

“There was consistent swing throughout, when it was fuller it was easier to play but when it was on a length, it got tough and we figured that out in the second innings,” Bumrah asserted.

Bumrah went on to comment on his vital knock of 28 runs as well. He reckoned that the tailenders are putting a lot of effort to work on their batting skills to pile a few runs for their side.

“We wanted to contribute as a lower-order, we are putting in a lot of effort, sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn’t,” he signed off.
